SNOW

SNOW

A Poem by Roger Turgeon
"

Just got a foot of snow overnight. Beautiful.

"

SNOW

A glistening snow has fallen, the crystal flurries are done

What remains are ice dunes of glitter, shimmering in the sun

Powdered banks of pallid drifts, hold spellbound boulders like mother

And twinkle as mirrored dust, no facet like any other

Stairs to rapt houses have risen, by inches of floating frost

Driveways and walkways are hidden, all signposts are standing lost

The air is hushed in silence, muted by white insulation

Children are dashing outside, unable to stem temptation

My footsteps crunch beneath me, while compressing the ashen ground

Visible breath escapes my lips, transformed but without a sound

Trees bow to the mounds upon them, in awe of the beauty seen

For the earth has been washed pure, and everything now is clean

New snow can be awe inspiring. I think that you have captured that here in the poem. The trees are always the crown jewels in the winter. This was a pleasure to read.

More awe coming my way too. I feel the beauty and the pain.
What beautiful thoughts you have expressed. When the snow falls it does make everything look magical. I very much enjoyed this piece..

We can all use a little magic. It's out there we just have to seize it.

yes indeed!
Eloquent read, most of us have written poems about how much we loathe the snow at this moment in time, an elegant breath of fresh air from your pen sir, although enough is enough of the pretty stuff at some point. I digress, I really liked this piece...
