AFTERGLOW

AFTERGLOW

A Poem by Roger Turgeon
"

Emotional fires do not burn every day, but a poet lives in their afterglow capturing the last fragments of their light.

"

AFTERGLOW

When the light from the noonday sun has faded into darkness

There is a peace that arrives like a calm and tender caress

Much as our burning desires upon spending ardor’s course

Fade to the silent and still embrace of reason’s subtle force

No fiery obsession remains to fill the voided hole

Yet memories illuminate still the contours of our soul

And in the peace of that moment to the outside world we show

Two silhouettes on the shade backlit by passion’s afterglow
