Man The one-armed wooden man sits alone without expression The vacant spot beside him deepening his depression A rusty iron welcome sign has too long been ignored He longs for the companionship of the woman he adored Among his dark and aimless thoughts his loneliness is mired And in his lover’s garden a thorny weed has just expired Can he still caress his lover if she returns to him With his weathered armless grasp and emotions long since dim The empty seat beside him now shall always be her place And he will sit forever waiting for her warm embrace © 2014 Roger TurgeonReviews
