The Moon

The Moon

A Poem by Susan Beth Horvath

Riding in silence
windows down
tunes tuned out for the evening
mind tuned into believing
that the air I breath
is all I need
for just a moment
I didn't own it
it owned me...
and the muscles tense
from what has happened since...
finally let go
loosened my grip on the steering wheel
I didn't know
that I had become so uptight
and don't correct me if I'm right
but the moon is the most beautiful friend that I know
and it's with me wherever I go

I love the moon too. It's good that it's with us wherever we go, good ending.

She really does just follow us around faithfully doesn't she? Except one night a month when she prefers to be alone. Lovely.
