The Lonely Tree

The Lonely Tree

A Poem by Susan Beth Horvath

I am like a lonely Tree

standing in the middle of nowhere

Spreading its branches far and wide

Giving shelter to every passerby

or to a weary traveller,

at times

an animal  would stop by and nibble the leaves.

Many a traveller has come by,

stopped and rested from the heat,

but do I have to wait that long

for only that traveller to come along?

Oh passer by please tell me that

I have not missed him,

hope he has not gone by without stopping

to take shelter from this tree.

Some have so much to give, and ask nothing in return, except form one special one, will they ever know of this though. A lovely poem.

I like this, it kinda reminds me of a poem I wrote about a tree, because the tree seemed so lonely where it stood. Sometimes it is hard to wait for someone to show up and give us company but sometimes it is worth the wait.

Good Job

Very original perspective. This flows so smoothly, with rhythm done so well! Enjoyed!

Beautiful poem, I read longing and concern that love may have passed by without stopping.
