A Chapter by Raylene

I flew as fast as I could after stopping to warn Abigail. I just wanted to go back home the sun was setting my wings ached as I been flying for two days straight without a rest.
I finally was twenty miles west from home; I could see the lights of the dim caves. I heard a whistling sound of an arrow, I tried to out out fly it yet I was so I tried it caught the tip of my wing. I screamed in agony yet refused to give up; I heard more arrows being fired.
"Do not lose sight, the fairy be worth a lot to the Queen."

I was only five miles now as I used the last bits of strength, to fly at full speed.
I could see my village
"Help!"
There was no one as the sun had not set. My wing gave out I started to go down I could hear the sound of dogs being released. I aimed for the closest thing which was gravel I braced for impact as I heard the sound of feet hitting the ground.
I was caught in time and I looked up to see my older brother Oscar.
"Do not worry Grace I got you."
He fled carrying me to our parents home
"Mom! Dad! Aunt Janis!"
I could feel the warmth of the familiar arms; my mother hugged me
"Grace, who did this?!" My mother's face was covered in nutmeg curls
My aunt ran to my sire
"Oscar go get Madam Lotus!"
I gazed up at my mother and aunt and heard a familiar voice
"The name is Lottie."
I felt the pain ease; as my vision came to me to see; my foster mother Lotus Hesperia or Lottie as she preferred.
She came to me and smile her brown hair curled into a bun.
"Do not worry my young one; I am here now."
My mother cried
"Will she survive?"
Lottie smiled
"Yes she will I put her pain at ease so we can find out what happened."
My mother held me as I layed on a makeshift bed in the den.
"I was captured.. by Queen Rohesia." My mother cried
"I will give that woman the force of the undead."
Madame Lottie shushed my mother
"I know she has been capturing Faye how did you get out?"
I coughed as my Aunt brought me some Apple cider
"Dolores the Elf guard is there.. disguising as a human."
Madame Lottie nodded
"Josephine please come with me." My mother kissed my forehead as my Aunt tended to my wounds

....

I was worried about Grace she had lost a lot of blood from the arrows; yet I was sure she just needed sleep.
I walked with Josephine Sycamore; eleven years ago I trusted her and her husband to adopt Grace, worried since they were vampires that they might eat her. I came to find out her husband and herself were vegetarian and after the birth of their son Josephine was to weak to bear another child.

I walked outside so Grace could rest.
"Josephine,do not summon the blood court."
Josephine snarled
"That woman hunted my daughter Down, and put marks on her."
I nodded
"I know, and I understand Grace was my child for two years before you and Phillip adopted her."
Josephine cried
"I can not promise the vampires will not want blood."
I held her
"I know but we have the Prophetess on our side. We all need to group together as one and decide how to demand our fairness." Josephine wipped her blood tears
"I understand but please know if we do go to war I want the person who did this as my meal."
I nodded
"She will heal but her wing will need preparing I will have a fairy guard come by to help."
I walked away knowing Grace had not been the first nor the last if something was not done I was not sure if I could not hold back. I walked to my home hearing the laughter of my children who I took in and curled my fist as to wondering why would anyone want to harm innocent children.
