OneA Chapter by RayleneOctober Twentieth , my eighteenth birthday; the day my life chand forever. I do not think even Gaia could of helped me. My mother woke me up that day; “Juni come on dear.” I smiled, my mother was a beautiful Faye woman. She had long jet black hair and stunning deep blue eyes like an ocean abyss. She smiled and it sem as if the whole room lite up.My mother had a small Honeypie on a plate; she handed it to me it was a small desert made from honey and berries. “Happy Birthday my little Juniper.” I grabbed the desert and ate fast, I would have ate slower to enjoy my last meal at home.I got up to get ready, and climbed down stairs. My mother was cooking some more Honeypie, probably for herself “Juniper are you excited? I looked at her she was talking about the ceremony for Fairy Trade. The ceremony was to decide where Fairy children would do best in; for instance my mother was a Garden Fairy. She and other Garden Fairies helped grow plants and food for all of The Realm and of course, you could not get your wings until you were put into a group or division as we called it. I was worried, yet I so badly wanted to fly, my mothers wings were stunning; they were dark green with the edges of light pink and markings of a elder Garden Fairy that looked like daisies. One the edges were also gems each division had wings that were colored, marked, and gemmed differently. My mothers wings had garnets in her wings all fourteen to show she had completed her training. I hoped to have to beautiful of wings, not only was my mother was a Garden Fairy but my entire family. I was a Storm, it was my birth right to be a Garden Fairy; to fly along my family in the Realm fields to harvest and grow for all creatures. My mother smiled at me petting my black curly short hair
“Do not worry Juni, I was nervous during my ceremony. Though all Eighteen year old’s have to do it.”
I ate my meal in silence; the ceremony was held by the races council their council leader. Our council leader was Luna Stone, she was a elder Council Fairy; all council fairies start out as Scroll Fairies if they prove worthy they move up in the council. My best friend Monica wanted to become a Scribe Fairy, which was normal her grandma had apparently been one. I hugged my mom as she was still talking about how I should not worry because I am a Storm. She chuckled and held me “My little Juniper tree, I am sure tonight The Head Council will place you with the Garden Fairies and you will receive a great mentor. I mean who knows it could be even Monica’s mom Roxanne”. I looked at her face long yet gentle curve, her eyes wise yet a sparkle of humor. “Okay mom, I will not worry so much anymore.” My mother kissed my forhead “Good, now your sister is coming tonight to the ceremony. I was hoping you two could get along for once.” I groaned, my sister Peridot was three years older than me, she had already completed most of her training. All new placements got a mentor, who the lived with for four years and on there own for one. The last year the Mentor of said placement tells the council if the placement is ready to be apart of there division on there own. If the placement is the council will give the placement their last gem of completion; if not the placement is to live with their mentor for another year to get there completion gem. The difference, the placement that is approved right away gets better rank and job than the later year completer.
My sister looked just like mom, yet she was kind of stuck up. I had other siblings as well I had three older sisters Violet, she was already done and had a mentor herself named Jessica, then Posy she was in her last year upon completion, and then Sorrel she was in her third year of training. I was the baby I was eighteen, Peridot was twenty-one,Sorrel was twenty-two, Posy was twenty- three, and Violet at the oldest was twenty- five. They were all coming to the ceremony yet, even though I loved all my sisters me and my sister Peridot never got along.
My mother broke my train of thought coming in with a pink dress and pearl earrings and necklace to match. I gasped “Are those grandma’s earrings?” My mom nodded handing me all the stuff she put on the pearl necklace around my neck “You grandma Sage would be very proud.” I looked in the mirror smiling as I put in my pearl earrings, though I look back on that day and still smile. I still hoped Grandma was still proud of me. © 2016 Raylene |
