Toys of the AtticA Story by RayleneMy mom stopped the car in front of my grandparents house "You excited dear?" I sighed "Yeah mom." I grabbed my blue bag and looked at the old green house; there was an old porch swing so fragile it looked like a dust bunny could break it. My grandma opened the door smiling she had her grey hair in a bun and her usual apron over one of her flora dresses "Hey kiddo!" I smiled weakly but it faded as I saw my two older cousins peaking from behind her. I looked to my mom she waved goodbye to me and I shuffled off to meet my doom. I put down my bag beside the dusty brown couch and my Grandma hugged me "Oh it is so good to have all the grandchildren in one house." My Grandpa laughed as he walked in "Well it looks like the last kid is here." I smiled and looked at my cousins they were laying on the couch "Hey guys." The oldest Blair looked at me she had long light brown hair and piercing dark green eyes, she had on zebra printed pajama pants on and a tank top with coca cola written on it in red "Sup twerp." the second oldest Priscilla rolled her eyes she had her hair braided to her shoulders she wore a jack skeletington tank top and tie-dye pajama pants "Hey, Josie" I frowned I looked at my self my hair was darker brown and curly and my pajamas was a ac/dc t-shirt and my pajama pants were just neon purple pant with a black checkered pattern on them. I gulped as I sat down and they played on there phones "So what do you guys want to do?' Blair looked at me "Well Grandma and Gramps have no wi-fi in here.. so I guess we are stuck watching re-runs of the Golden Girls." Grandma yelled from the kitchen "Girls, I am cooking a roast for dinner it will be ready in an hour, me and grandpa will be in our room if you need us." I sighed great no distraction or protection "Well we could play a game." Priscilla laughed "Like what Barbie's?" My face turned red 'No.. I was thinking maybe hide and seek." Blair scoffed "Oh ya ?" I nodded and Priscilla looked at me "Okay we will play and if we find you we get to play one of our games." I gulped last time they did that I came home with my head shaved "Okay but count to a hundred." Blair smiled and put her hands over her eyes so did Priscilla and I took off running taking my bag with me.' I stood in the hallway and looked around for where I could hide "31" I looked up and saw a string "32" I pulled it and climbed up the stair and pulled it up as I hear "35" I looked around and saw I was in the attic I smiled. I once came up here with my dad to get Christmas decorations; I crawled to the old desk that used to be my Grandpas writing desk. I hid under it using the chair to hide me; I sighed taking of my bag laying there. I looked around and saw all the old stuff they had up here I saw a strange box with something in it. I pressed my ear to the floor to listen for Blair "61." I smiled and hurried up and drug it next to the desk returning to my hiding place.
I gently dug out what I saw poking out it was a bag of something I looked inside and saw a bunch of pretty marbles they were red, green=, blue and so many colors I put them bag and dug in there again. I grabbed something odd I took it out and saw it was a toy plane it wrote "Foxtrot" I smiled and flew it in my hands, I put it back and saw something else it looked like an old toy bear I got it out as I heard the door being open. I saw a phone light and shrunk down "Well?" I heard Blair say Priscilla shouted "I don't think she is brave enough to hide here." Blair sighed "Well Grandma is going to be mad if we don't find her." I saw them close the door and smiled, if Grandma got worried maybe I could go home. I thought of it and smiled putting the marbles, toy plane, stuffed bear and what looked like an old photo in my bag. I climbed down the stair of the attic and put my bag next to the couch; I looked around and saw Blair coming I took off into my grandparents room and like idiots they took the bait. I opened the door rushing in there and Priscilla smiled as she tried to grab my shirt I took the dive face planting into the floor with Priscilla falling on top of me. Grandma gasp and ran to me as Grandpa got Blair and Priscilla out of the room "Josie honey are you okay?" I knew this was my chance so I began to cry "We were playing and I hit my knee." I was only ten so it looked convincing. Grandma hugged me as she called my mom from the house phone "Oh the girls were playing and Josie hut her leg and she wants to go home." I heard mom say something "Well.. Priscilla did land on her." I smiled Priscilla was fourteen so this looked bad for her. Grandma hung up "Well your mom is at work so your Dad is coming to get you." I smiled and Grandma helped me lay on the couch as Blair and Priscilla glared at me from the smaller couch. Soon my dad walked in he had on his usual jeans and boots he even work his mid-sleeved grey shirt. I smiled as he told me to come on, as I got into the truck I made a face to my cousins as they looked out the window, their mouths dropped. I smiled as my dad drove off "You know.. I know what you did." I looked at him he had brown messy hair and dark blue eyes I gulped "I'm sorry." Dad smiled "Hey I understand Paul needs to make those kids behave." I smiled and got my bag out of the floorboard "Hey dad I got something for you." my dad looked at me as I got out the Plane he smiled "Hey.. that's the toy plane me and your uncle used to play with." He held I in one hand "Where did you find it?" I smiled "The attic, I hid there and got some toys from there can I have them?" Dad pulled up to our house and smiled "Yes, but what all did you find?" I smiled "The plane, Marbles, and someone's toy bear." Dad looked at me "That bear belonged to your Aunt Helen." I looked at dad thinking of Aunt Helen she just had my cousin Oliver. "What did she call it?" Dad smiled "She named it Jupiter." I looked at him smiling holding the bear "Can I have It?" Dad smiled "I think she would not mind, but tonight i'll teach my little Josephine how to play with those marbles. I smiled glad I escaped my cousins with the treasure from the attic. © 2016 RayleneReviews
