Breaking the Great Chain

Breaking the Great Chain

A Poem by Palmerd3
"

A meditation on the idea of a great chain of being. Definition provided within the poem (kind of).

"

“The Great Chain of Being - a strict, religious

hierarchical structure of all matter and life.”

“The world revolves around love:

one man caring for one another

and the world they live in,”

says God.

“The world revolves around God:

everything he says is law,

the unworthy shall be punished,”

                say the Seraphim.

“The world revolves around fun:

Everyone just needs to learn

to let go a little,”

                says Lucifer

“The world revolves around cohabitation:

selfishness kills more than just yourself,”

                say the Trichinella.

“The world revolves around sunlight:

sometimes you need a little bit of help

to grow,”

                say the Quercus.

“The world revolves around time;

or else we can never reach our full potential”

says graphite.
"No," says Man,

"The world revolves around us."
