Margery

Margery

A Poem by Audrey Wynters
"

I wrote this about a blind woman I used to visit at a long term care facility. It was heartbreaking to see someone with such an amazing life sitting blindly and waiting to die alone.

"
Inside a small simple room
Bland decor and an untidy bed
No one has come to see her today
The nurse only brought her a pill
She sits solemnly in an old worn chair
Expression neutral, eyes unseeing
Her small fragile body unmoving
The day is bright, yet she sees only darkness
The cold mechanical voice breaks the silence
It announces uncaring that it is 6:00pm
She cannot say the day is wasted
Her days are gone

I love to read and write and have been actively doing both since I was a little girl. I dream of the day I might see my writing in print so I can turn to someone and say "I wrote that". I love the.. more..
