UntitledA Poem by Audrey WyntersAnother old one, written 12 years ago.
I see your face in the night sky, and the stars are your smile
Eternity now hold me, embraced in the forest I weep. The summer rain passes unforgotten, as rivers wind through seasons of lost memories My voice unheeded by the fading day. The gates of a cemetery swing like pendulums, the forgotten garden of stone sleeps close behind. Where are you hiding dreamless one? Unbound by the desolation of time, grounding mountains and swallowing the streams It waits not for you. I long to be with you now as the fall wind carries summer away. Soon winter cold as death will bury me, snow falling brings with it the heart of you. My love, why do you linger in the heavens? Your home lies deep within me. Yet still the frost etches carvings on to the trees, my sadness without hope long forgotten. Wishes fall from my tongue, each begging for one glimpse of you. Still though, the stars disappear, veiled by the darkness of winter. They cry cold tears of past regrets, knowing that I can not join them in the night sky. My love, I will forever wait for you. Two separate hearts beating far, far away. A.Wynter © 2015 Audrey Wynters |
