Changes

Changes

A Poem by Surabhi

I'm afraid of the changes
Not because I am comfortable here
But how much time would I get before I change and turn into something else?

And because time slips away,
And who will I become, I fear.

How long before the shift begins?
Before I shed this current skin,
And turn into someone new,
A stranger to the self I knew?

Will I recognize my face,
In the mirror's cold embrace?
Or will the world around me spin,
And pull me to a place within?

I'm afraid of the changes,
Not because I'm stuck in place,
But because the sands of time,
Will soon erase this present face.
