Shooting Star Wisher

Shooting Star Wisher

Stars used to be something I took for granted, but not anymore. When I look up at them, I see so much. I see myself, created so newly. I see my dreams, looking back at me, waiting for me to catch them. I see the future, beckoning me forward, but I also see the past, calling me back. It's a complicated relationship, the stars and I. Without them, I would be lost, this I know. So I thank you, my dear stars. I am a shooting star wisher, and I always will be. Maybe to some it's just pieces of rock and dust that sparkle in a dark sky, but not to us dreamers. Have you ever watched a meteor shower on a clear night? If not, please find out when there will be on near you -- it will change you. To see something falling through the darkness, risking it's "life" just to bring some hope to people, it's amazing to me. Join me, and be a shooting star wisher.

"The stars are always there, but we miss them in the dirt and clouds. ~ Renee Yohe

"For my part I know nothing with certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream."~Vincent Van Gogh.

"Every atom in your body came from a star that exploded. And, the atoms in your left hand probably came from a different star than your right hand. It really is the most poetic thing I know about physics: you are all stardust. You couldn't be here if stars hadn't exploded, because the elements - the carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, iron, all the things that matter for evolution and life - weren't created at the beginning of time. They were created in the nuclear furnaces of stars, and the only way for them to get into your body is if those stars were kind enough to explode. So, forget Jesus. The stars died so that you could be here today." ~ Laurence Krauss

Comets are falling,
and we aren't sleeping.
These stars are dying,
to stop your crying.

~*~
Make your wish
Each dream,
we will cherish,
No matter how silly
that it may seem.

~*~
Star dust twinkles,
sparkling crystals.
Hurtling forward,
in shining blizzard.

~*~
Suicide dreamers,
find the stars.
Make a wish,
to heal your scars.

~*~
Wish strength,
wish courage.
New beginnings,
creating an image.

~*~
Eyes closed,
heart open.
Dream freely,
without caution.

~*~
Streaming light,
capturing hope.
Saving the dreamers,
creating the writers,
helping us cope.

~*~
Wish on a shooting star.
Love each your dreams.
Crush negativity streams.
Fight brave for what's ours.

Author's Note

Kayla K
I would like to thank you for any reviews, or even just for reading it. I also want to apologize if the quote from Laurence Krauss offended anyone -- it was not intended to bash anybody's religious beliefs. It's just a point of view from somebody, I'm not making you believe it. Also, I felt a want to put it, because my big brother is studying physics. If you have a problem with it, please message me, and we can talk. Thanks!

I love that this poem uses something so beautiful and mysterious to convey hope and prosperity. To me, you showed how something that is just a big ball of fire is perceived as amazingly beautiful to people, like it's a metaphor for people; you can hate yourself all you want but there is always someone who thinks you're beautiful and precious. This poem really made me feel like stars are alive and pure beings. Beautiful :)

this is constructed perfectly. I love it!

Interesting, a lot of people do take stars for granted...

This is so...carefully constructed. The way it's woven is like a spider web, but nothing harmful at all about it.
