Tango

Tango

A Poem by Sunshine Kid

It’s a messy
Tango
She’s in
One step
Forward
Two to
The side
One diagonal
Five back
Her partner
Is teaching her
The steps
So meticulously
So well
But she can’t
Catch on
She goes off
On a
Dancing tangent
Trying desperately
To understand
But at the same time
Trying to
Dance a new
Dance
But
But
With the same
Partner
But the audience
They want a
Tango
They want this
And how
Can the dancers
Refuse
Their audience
So they dance
And dance
And trip
And stumble
And try
And deviate
And wish
And look each other
In the eyes
And switch
The
Steps.
