Nothing

Nothing

A Poem by Sunshine Kid

So
That’s the way
It is?
Fine.
Replace me
As if
I were some kind
Of ghost.
Forget me
As if I were
Another
Face in the
Crowd.
I suppose I am.
This proves it.
I’m nothing.
I never was
Anything.
I never will be
Something
Somebody
To
Somebody.
I fell for
The smoke
And
Mirrors
They were
So sweet
Pretty
Amazing
But that’s just
It.
Glad you can
Move on
While I
(Of course)
Wallow in some
Sort of
Self-pity.
What else would
I do?
I’m nothing
Remember?
Nothing is
What nothing does
(Isn’t that right
Forrest?)
I am a blip
In your
Life.
I’m a mess-up
A mistake
A silly
Mind slip
A nothing.
I’m so
F****n’
Happy
For you.
Truly.
Don’t worry.
Just go
Leave me
Wash me away
As if I were
Annoying dirt
Clinging to your
Skin.
It doesn’t matter.
I don’t matter.
Let’s leave it
That way
Because that’s obviously
Easiest
For you
(And that’s who
We’re thinking about
Right?)
Have fun.
Live life.
I’ll be here
Sitting
Waiting
Trying.
