My Favorite Game

My Favorite Game

A Poem by Sunshine Kid

‘Round and
Around and
Around we go
Where we stop
Nobody knows
In the little game
Oh we’ll call it
Life
The game with
Ever-changing rules
First time was okay
Do it again
And you’re out
“That’s not fair!”
“What does that mean?”
“It means you’re cheating.”
“It means I’m what-ing?”
You see how
Logic is wasted
On the creators
Of the game?
Some cry
Some die
Some whimper
In fear
Some don’t shed
A tear
But feel it
Nonetheless.
Her?
She laughs.
What do they got
That he don’t got?
Power?
Who needs that
Power?
She has happiness
He has joy
She has something
She loves to share
She has love
He understands
(And feels)
The inherent
Worth and
Dignity
Of every single
Player
Of this
Sport.
Unfortunately
Most would call them
The losers
For their hearts
Are the most
Fragile
Since they
Wear it on their
Sleeves.
They have no
More
Or
Less
To lose than
Every other contestant
They’re just willing
To start
Over.
