Yellow roses

Yellow roses

A Poem by Dreamer
"

to my friend derry. Yellow roses, a symbol of friendship

"

Sometimes

We hear peaceful sound of a babbling brook

Only to realize that it is the sound of the wind running through the trees,

Disturbing us from a dream,

That tricked us into staying under the ancient Willow tree.

Sometimes

If you look up just in time,

You catch that malicious grin from the wind, right in the center of your heart.

Watching the long ago sayings of friendship being dragged away on its tail- prisoner.

Soon,

Aren't we standing in the middle of a withering yellow rose field, rotting roots from

 Weeping Willow crying over head.

Wondering if friendship was ever really a prisoner or a pawn.

Preparing to bury in this field

Our child like perception of how things should be (Goodbye Summer dreams)

-But sometimes

(When God smiles on us)

Things begin to stir

When someone like you changes things from what they were.

When Summer dreams,

Become Summer memories.

Knowing

When we hear the soul stirring sound of a God given creation,

It WILL be the sound of flowing waters.

Uprooting weeping Willows,

Bringing to life yellow roses blooming in the spring of our friendship.

In these experiences we learn,

That friendship can never be a prisoner neither should it be a pawn.

But when shared between the right people,

It is a blessing from God.

To derry :)

Author's Note

Dreamer
yellow roses are a symbol of friendship.
Willow trees are sometimes a symbol of saddness/depression.
Hope that helps in understanding:)

What clever use of symbolism in poetry...

There is something somehow sad and nostalgic about this poem.

That is just my personal understanding

Ahhh this is so beautiful! In a friendship filled with godly people truly IS a blessing. I love the ending as well. Death (if this is about someone dying at the end), is only a short farewell until the day we see our Savior's beautiful face :)
