CLOWNS

CLOWNS

A Poem by Dreamer

Pretty clowns

Flash bright smiles at the world

Life is a Circus

We're all in the show.

Silence clowns

Frown beneath a smile

Make sure the world doesn't see it,

Quick!!!

Help them paint on their desguise!

One clown corrects the wild eyed children for tugging at his clothes.

Rotten, insolent brats attacking from every side.

Hungry wolves willing to devour his bones- if that gets them want they want!

The parents don't see the malice of their offspring

Just the silent grunt of a tired man under all that- FAKE!

Clowns are always supposed to be jolly!

Smile when pies are splattered across their faces.

Smile when banana peels are under their heels making them land on their arses!

Smile when those around tear them down on every account!

But he's had enough

And so the clown rips the fire colored wig off, smugging that PERFECT smile as he stalks away-ANGRY

Angry clowns

Are sad clowns

Tired clowns

Aren't clowns

And are soon set away

(Authority doesn't quite like deviants)

Clowns, clowns

I see them all around me as I'm standing in the hall of mirrors.

Who the hell ever wanted to live like this anyway- possibly losing yourself

I whisper to myself as I tear that perfect smile off with the back of my hand,

I look at the mirrors again only to realize not a damn clown has gone!

Thoughts??? Im writing this bcuz ppl keep asking. Then ending where the persona says nt a clown is gone means that change doesnt happen over night and isnt just on the surface. We have to address wht is inside make a serious chnage and stick to it if we are to truly find ourselves as individuals. Steppin away from the mold everyone has for us...fixing the fake that might have settled within..

Excellent poem! The imagery of the clown is so precise, I could actually see the clown and his red hair. Great work!

Well, first of all, I'm TERRIFIED of clowns. You don't even know.

Gosh, this piece was so raw, so real, I can't even describe how well it was written. Amazing write, even though they're my worst fear.

I hate clowns! Lol! Ever since I watched Stephen King's It I am terrified of them! But well written. Keep on penning.

A interesting way to look at life. I do see clowns. They are leading my government. People are odd and we all have have strength and weaknesses. I like how you made your point. Hard to look at the mirror sometime. Took me many years. I learn not to be negative and be kind. Better to be a nice clown then a depressed one. Thank you for a outstanding poem.

Good expression, and a unique way of getting the point across. You've used clowns as a comparison to people. You've even shown the world through a clowns eyes; it's probably not what most people would think, and that is wonderful. We are all part of the show; we entertain, but for how long? Very thought provoking. Excellent write.
