The GuideA Poem by June FowlerA biographic religious poem.
The Guide
Who can I call as a guide? To help me through my weary life! No one will walk the mile with me. No one will show the way! When I am down and out, Disturbed and fatigued, Whom do I turn to? Who will hold my hand through the league? Surely there would be someone! Someone who'd hear my cry! Someone who'd help me fight life's battles wild! So disheartened was I Walking life's many miles. No one, Not one soul was in sight! No one to take pity on my plight! Then I turned towards the caller, Facing Calvary. There was Jesus calling, Saying, Come to me , my child'. I thought for a while about the weary path of life, About the people and the times gone by About the many mistakes in life, About choosing wrong than right, About deceit foul play and fight! How abusive was my life! Then I turned my wandering steps, To the path that led to the VOICE. I lifted up my eyes, Behold! Calvary was in sight! I rushed, I stumbled, I fell again, This time I did not stop or wait. My Lord was calling I had to go, For I had found my life's Guide so! I rushed to Him, and there fell into His arms stretched out wide, He wiped my tears and gave me smiles. Oh Jesus ! My Guide Devine . Now I will not look back again, At the path left behind. With Jesus as my Guide I'll hold the light And show lost souls the way. As I was once so are they, thirsty and weary. Many lost souls are out there, Just hoping for someone to hold a light And show them the right narrow way. Today I hold His light and walk With Jesus as my Guide. I stand at the crossing there Guiding young ones gone astray. For, I know the path that they now tread, So full of loneliness and deceit And every friend a foe! Today I call all young and old, "Turn back to the narrow path For it will lead you to the Peary Gates Where happiness is to last.'' S.J.Fowler. © 2014 June FowlerAuthor's Note
