Touch of fog

Touch of fog

A Poem by Sunil Sharma
"

About losses and remembrances

"

Touch of Fog

The early-morning

Suburban fog,

Coarse- white

Travelling sheet/s,

Covered the dingy

Surroundings of an

Indian suburb,

Converting it

Into grey-white

Mass,

And also---

Surprised him,

By its swiftness

Of stealthy action

By entering his

Suffocating

Small room,

Via half-open windows,

And kissing

His

Gaunt

Veined

Face,

In its cupped hands,

Very tenderly,

Slowly,

The way

His only

Grand-daughter

Would

Often do---

When she was

Little and cared;

Or,

In a different

Time and era,

Occasionally,

The tears

Got kissed,

By

An overworked

Mother.

Featured Review

The poem gives the readers a very graphic description of an extremely old and withered probably neglected person who has not experienced love and affection during the larger part of his life except from his mother, decades ago and then from his grand-daughter, while she was young. Loved the way compared the cold soothing touch of fog to that of touch of a loved one.

Thanks for sharing this poem with us.
