Just Breathe

Just Breathe

A Poem by Sumo

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder
Which is what hurts the most when you are no longer

Love ripped from your life, left severed
Only memories left to be remembered

The air sucked from your lungs, you fight to breathe
All your time together, now seemingly to brief

You want nothing more than to just feel again
My only release, are my thoughts through my pen

They also say “Time heals all wounds”
But that’s one thing for me, that time eludes

There’s always that one that breaks you entirely
The one you’ll always miss privately

Each love that follows, just never the same
Yet you put on your mask and play the game

How do you move on from true love lost
Why did your heart and soul have to suffer the cost

They also say “It’s better to have loved and lost then never loved at all”
I beg to differ, there’s no pain worse than this never ending fall

Nothing left but to see what’s planned for me
To walk this earth, lonely and attempt to breathe
