Please StopA Poem by Sumo
I held on to hope but it let go of me
Once happily shackled, now set free My heart no longer remains A growing darkness filled with disdain Unforgiving torment, as I pretend it will get better My weak attempt at release, is this letter Terrorized by the spirits you swallow The more fill you get the more I become hollow Sick to my stomach as your words slur I whisper in my mind “But, I love her” With each tumble you take a crack forms in our foundation What’s worse, is it’s voluntary degradation You spin elaborate lies and excuses as to why Yet I know, you just can’t resist that high The sadness is you believe your own tales It’s not only you who suffers from these betrayals A man who loves beyond measure, torn apart Who’s resolve has weakened since the start A daughter, caught between the Love she desires And the alcohol her mother requires © 2017 Sumo |
