Personal Growth

Personal Growth

A Poem by Sumo

I'm no longer the person you had known
My desire to admit, submit and repent has grown

I'm at last yearning to change my past
Before my fate in stone is cast

Time ignores no one, our minutes will countdown
There won't always be second chances we will be around

Reminiscing about all the chances gone to waste
And all the times I put myself in second place

Realizing I can only change myself and my actions
I'm beginning to eliminate all my old distractions

There comes a moment when you finally see what's important
The haze is removed, vision no longer distorted

Stumbling blocks that stunt our growth
Creating the pains that hurt the most

Be cautious and seek advice from those who truly care
Not those who'll lead to only further despair

Be honest with yourself and those you hold dear
Concentrate on all the good you see near
