Why Didn't I Do This Before

Why Didn't I Do This Before

A Poem by Sumo

Why is it easier to worship what God created but not the creator?
Why is it we always say, not today, maybe later?

There won't always be a next time, yet we only focus on today
Pushing all the things we should do, away

Future, an incredibly deep word. Full of so many meanings
Limitless possibilities and the whole range of feelings

Our life doesn't even equal a micro-second in the fabric of time
No matter how much wealth and materials we can say is mine, It will all stay behind

What if tomorrow is the day you're told you have cancer
And quitting yesterday may have been the answer?

They say live each day as if it's your last
Yet we constantly live in the past

Who cares what was done before
What matters is it's time now, to do more

Begin those changes that call to you
Knock down those walls and walk through

Bring those in that love you close and hold them tight
Work each day, hard to do right

Stop doubting yourselves and making excuses
Stop letting your convictions remain useless

Strength is portrayed as a hard physique
But none is made stronger than dropping to a knee

Pride is our largest enemy, making us willingly look foolish
We know we're wrong but continue to do this

We must be humble and let go of our misconceptions
The devil leads us with his deceptions

Don't deny the emotional riches God has in store
Once you do, you'll wonder....why didn't I do this before
