Spiritual Growth

Spiritual Growth

A Poem by Sumo

There comes a time when a light bulb flickers
When that angel on your shoulder snickers

The devil on the opposite side frowns
He realizes you no longer want him around

Growth from adversity, you shed your old self
Maturing in your spiritual health

Putting aside the crutches that slowed you down
Surrounding yourself with support all around

Finally free from worldly bonds
You pray to Jesus and he responds

Have faith child, your eyes now open anew
I'll reach out to others through you

Grace I've given for the wicked ways past
Replaced by riches far and vast

Be steadfast and feast on my word
Go forth for me and share what you've heard

Never go back to what brought you down
Rely on the strength you've now found
