Painful Inspiration

Painful Inspiration

A Poem by Sumo

Sad such sorrow exists at times in our lives to inspire such ironic beauty
Heartache a feeling that should at least feel new to me

Poetry conveying the deepest of my emotions
Which should lay hidden like the depths of our oceans

A painful lunge I write, to escape the hurt
I retreat to solitude an introvert

Hiding inside myself, afraid to take another chance
Tired of being the victim of circumstance

Becoming numb, my words my only escape
Slowly my darkened heart deteriorates

Hopeless in this "give me" world
Flushed away, emptying as I swirl

Reduced to ashes, my flame extinguished
My faith in true love relinquished

Searching for a morsel to make me smile
To feed my hunger for awhile

Finding beauty in empty spaces
A duel long lost before my ten paces
