Barking is a part of regular behavior of a dog. He often barks to let his master remind of his presence. Dog's want and need care and affection. Many a times, they bark asking their owners to cuddle with them. As these furry creatures can't speak or talk like we do, they usually express their emotions by barking. Their bark can be a shout, scream, cry, howl or a growl based on the situation. Since, a dog has been practicing barking from quite a long time, its not easy for him to mend his ways in a week or two.

Few Techniques That Can Stop A Dog From Barking Are:

1. Remove The Motivation

Most often, dogs bark to compel their owners to fulfill their wish and they succeed in majority of situations. Every time he barks, try to figure out what actually he's demanding. Once you know the reason, don't reward him by fulfilling his desire's. Don't give him the opportunity to continue his barking behavior. For example: if a pet is barking at the toy which is placed near, pick out that toy from there to compel him to stop shouting.

2. Ignore The Bark

If your pet is used to barking for most of the day then, you need to ignore him. Don't pay any attention as long as he barks. Your care will impel him to be more noisy. Don't talk, touch or stare, until he stops barking. Once he's quiet, love and reward him with a treat. Don't get frustrated or beat him, as this will enforce him to scream more loudly and longer. For example: when he's chained up, don't look back, once he stop's barking or crying, turn around and praise him with a treat.

3. Teach The Quiet Command

It may sound non-sense, but there are pets who turns quiet whenever their owner stares at them or tell them to remain silent. One needs to teach their pet to follow the orders by providing them proper trainings. Order a dog to speak, wait till he barks. Then, offer him a treat so that he stops barking and start eating. Try this process few times. This will teach him to bark when a speak command is given. Similarly, make a pet learn the quiet command by offering treats.

4. Keep Him Tired

Create a time table for your dog so that he can indulge himself in physical and mental exercises, which can help in maintaining sound health. A tired dog is likely a good dog and due to tiredness, there are fewer chances that he'll bark. Take him to long walks, let him chase the ball and play with other toys so that he remains busy.

Dogs are one of the cutest and loving animals who loves their owner more than they love themselves. These were the few techniques that can help in improving the barking behavior of the dog.
