A Poem by SummerSnow

Stoplight is red

Read my sign

I’m hungry

Can you give me a dollar?

I see your sign

Your dirty clothes

I’m busy

And I don’t have a dollar

You look at me

Like I’m disgusting

But I’m hungry

Please will you give me a dollar?

How long will it take

For this light to change

Don’t come near

You can’t have my dollar

I used to have

A wife and kids

And a job

All I need now is a dollar

Don’t stand so close

You’ll scratch my car

Get away

And I’ll give you a dollar

Are you searching around

For something for me

In your kindness

Will you give me a dollar?

Enjoy your booze

And your filth and mess

Here you go

Get away and here’s a dollar

God bless you, sir

For your kindness to me

God bless

And thanks for the dollar
