PrettyA Poem by Sumire GemzJust some thoughts
Through out this planned continum of life
I find there are a few things that never change Junk food, backstabbing, and appearance For some odd reason it cages us,makes some of us go insane That short and sweet 6 letter word can have us flying through the heavens And yet crumbling to our feet The sadness and pain that word has caused us Ohh has it ever been worth it From the color of our skin to the shape of our hips Sorry we can never be perfect From the steps that we take and the Moves that we make No one can ever replace us. As I look in the mirror I cant tell you what I see The person who I am Or the person they want me to be Sometimes I feel like im a lightbulb Shining for now until my shine is no longer needed Dulled and wasted away without any one noticing Those times are the hardest Cauz life has once again made a turn on the obstacle course Sputtering and tripping over the ashes of those who fell Hoping that you wont be next But Ill never be PRETTY Nope I will always be intelligent ,cunning, persuasive, powerful, elegant But never pretty Its too abstract of a word for me If you can call a dress or an object that has no warmth no emotion no real substance pretty Then I am no better than a statue at a museum A spectacle So I am not Pretty I am just Me © 2017 Sumire GemzAuthor's Note
