And, I know you're out there...A Poem by Sumi-This is the kind of love I'd like to find someday-And, I know you're out there… And the pavement is steaming, Fumes from the cloudburst; S he's choking on them, waiting Somewhere for… a heap of ragtag perplexity and Smoldering simplicity...
And, we're gonna' dance in the rain With our mouths open, reaching For the morning like it's a precipitating cloud Of fruit juice, our umbrellas limp and hanging In central park you and I… just laughing. She has that smile… The kind with that secret sadness, And it's deep water. But, there's no way she's drowning… and we're doused in life and light and Love. We're indigent and it's paint, and wandering In the midst of a pandemic of our Own making. Cosmological constant- Ly. I'll find you, And I have a feeling You'll be at a subway station… She's sitting with her nose in a novel, And as I come closer the noise will Turn to static, pulsating white and gray. you're beautiful, and you're sharp, and soft. And you'll open my eyes, And I'll open your heart, and We'll keep spinning. …. here comes the upheaval of all my Conventions. My cheek pressed up against The cold tile wall, a poster covered in dripping Vandalism. And we're going to see the world together rain cloud baby. And we're going to fight the world with our ingenuity sunshine honey. You've got me with that gaze, a mystery, and it's warm and I can feel it… She'll show herself one day in my heart, it's just another day… And we're having an adventure. Slid across each other in the dark, chest to chest And we're feeling nothing. … But the beat of our own hearts. © 2008 Sumi |
