Thoughts 2A Story by lux et tenebraeMany of these thoughts will be tangents...Perhaps a utopia is not possible. It seems like all of the problems of the world would disappear if we all could agree or we could all conform to the same rules. But that is the problem with utopianistic ideas. People are not all the same. 100% of all people will never obey 100% of the time so long as man is still in control, for we are all rebellious in nature. We are always tempted to take more than our share. Not 100% of people desire everything to be fair. How many honest men fear justice? How many dishonest men desire for the world to be just? We determine our fates. We can choose how our environment will affect us, most of the time. People are different; this makes life more interesting, but it also complicates everything. Does diversity contradict utopianism? By diversity I do not intend to separate people by race but by the deepest of their tendencies and beliefs. Does a differing opinion automatically make a utopia impossible? Not necessarily; it depends on the idea. But one does have to admit that there are some ideas which are contrary to any functioning society. The belief in anarchy is a prime example. We are
lost. Or, perhaps we are only partially lost. Perhaps some are lost and some
know where they are going. Perhaps some just think that they know what they are
doing and they really have no clue. Perhaps there are those who choose not to
think about where they are going because the uncertainty of it all is just too
frightening to them. The future is scary. The future is the heart of the
unknown. It is something to fear if one does not prepare for it. © 2014 lux et tenebraeAuthor's Note
