The Pathetic Kelpie

The Pathetic Kelpie

A Poem by Sujash I. Purna
"

this was written in August 2008...naive hand...so apologies if there is any mistake...

"

Deep, beneath the water

There lived a kelpie,

Who ne’er saw the light of the sun.

Lived asleep, lived like a stranger,

To the earth, he never could see.

On an awry day, it occurr’d

To the kelpie, he rose higher to see

To have a glimpse of the earth

No matter what others would say

It did not think of its place

But, nay, others had caught him!

Restrained him.

The pathetic kelpie! The sun laughed

Behind the veil of the clouds.

She knew, he couldn't get higher

Because of the others' desire

To stop the pioneer

The kelpie, strugglin and fightin

Refused to live underneath.

The sea full of darkness

But the fate of him, the good old friends

Of him, forbade, and strengthened the harness.

Goodbye, the charming sun!

She wasn't for the pathetic kelpie...

Sad, but I really liked the small little story that you gave. I'm surprised that you used a kelpie of all animals!
