Woman

Woman

A Poem by Sujash I. Purna
"

It was written a couple of years ago. A pretty girl who I was too shy to talk to is my inspiration here. Now I ponder...I haven't overcome this weird shyness of mine...yet!

"
I talk of silly dreams
And of reveries
Those out of my reach.

Woman,
I see you in stills,
On bill-boards and on TV screens,
Yet I never place my eyes on yours
Too shy for my burning cheeks.

I talk of gallantry
Then again wallow in a reverie.
In some spider men suits saving
Mary Jane Watsons.

I talk of beauty
That runs around in circles, thee
Woman, yours is most dazzling;
Yet I never place my eyes on yours
Too shy for my burning cheeks.

I behold you Woman, in Mona Lisas in art galleries
Even in Modigliani, Picasso’s women
They were beaming from their frames
But I was too shy to sing a hymn.

You Woman,
You baffle me with your beauty
You the Charming, you beguile me.

From Oedipus complex to jealousy
I writhed with pain, I writhed in shame,
Yet I never place my eyes on yours
Too shy for my burning cheeks.

Yet I’m charmed by your affection motherly
In Mother Theresa, Florence Nightingale I see thee
This earth would have been gray with misery
Had your pulchritude not touched his heart’s strings.

Woman,
Yet I never place my eyes on yours
Too shy for my burning cheeks.

This is an incredibly sweet piece capturing a person's inability to look beauty in the eye, and also their ability to see it everywhere. Of course, the answer is to take the mysticism and on-a-pedestal-ness away from the opposite sex and to look at those notions straight in the eye. But then we wouldn't get sweet poetry about awkwardness and appreciation and maybe the awkwardness is needed for the appreciation.

You have very nice word usage and a simple intricacy, the way you weave the images and sentences together. It's a tantalizing thing to read and as I near the end I see more and more of your writing style come out. You are unique, especially in this piece. Your subtle rhyme scheme that comes along every so often and the dictation that I can almost hear you speaking it in. Great articulation of your thoughts. You're an easy read that I'd be happy to read any time.

This is sweet :D she would probably love to know someone thought this of her. She would have perhaps been worshipped by you :) so it's sweet and sad. It's written like a song, the repetition has a good flow to it. Good job, loving your stuff!

This is so sweet! I personally believe that one who feels shyness most probably would be in love or have feelings for this person you feel shyness in her presence, I think this was beautiful, great job.

throughly thought out and appraised. Female power and nourishment is lost in these days of "Sex and City" women. We tend to forget about the sustainable angle women have provided for century's to those less unrepentant to boast anything of the sort. Beautiful flow, well done.

Sujash, this is a strong piece! I love that through media, art, and these angelic images of the almighty flowering feminine of both passion and compassion that they almost seem to far removed in these depictions, like those unreachable gold standard goddesses. This is such a thought provoking piece, well done!

Loved the comparisons which our youth can definitely relate to! It shows that you thought about your audience enjoying this...and I really did!
