Soliloquy of A Death Craving Hermit

Soliloquy of A Death Craving Hermit

A Poem by Sujash I. Purna

I gave up being sociable,

I’d ruined it all I knew.

My friends had left; my old pals

My lovebirds, away they flew.

It gives me a guilty pleasure

To be alone.

A perfect hermit in a corner

An uncouth creature who never shone.

I were I wish sometimes

On someone else’s shoes,

But then would not it be

I, the one who’d let all hell loose?

I wait and wait for the day,

It will arrive I believe someday,

From its silent cave

A scythe holder with my death’s message

I will be the first to embrace.

Leaving will not be that disgrace

As I am now being friendless

I shall die alone, a pathetic sage.
