My Minstrels of Love

My Minstrels of Love

A Poem by Sujash I. Purna
"

A fussy but caring lover over his first love's excitement...Does she love mistletoes? Does she love his minstrels?

"

This had been a gaiety I wallowed in

That I was as loved as were thee.

I never loved my bitter-sweet memories;

Hated them I; these nightmares strangle me

But they are all that I have with me

To prove what I am on my lone bare-feet

And that I can shower roses from a tree

At night while my Love takes a nap beneath.

She shall see no Cheshire Cat Grin

Only a puny boy with minstrels to sing.

Deep their voices, right from their lungs

They’ll sing of love; sing songs so unsung.

I will secretly climb down and kneel,

She, too mesmerized to feel my kiss

But my minstrels shall dance and sing

A hymn of love and on branches they’ll swing…

Do you love mistletoes? Do you love this autumn in green?

I will know some day and break this beauty queen’s sleep!

I will tell my little minstrels to never sing a lullaby

Because my Love shall blink and never see me how I

Have had wept all these years, these long long nights

Draped with velvet dark and silence so stifling…

I will call my little minstrels and of love they shall sing…

I liked this one...it transported me to another land, rather a feeling of utopia..nice work.
