Kali in disguise

Kali in disguise

A Poem by Violet O'Brien

Lips blistered and chapped
You scorch me like the sun
My heart travels from my chest
To the core of me
Dwelling deeper inside of me
Safer and protected
Can you reach out and touch it
Feel my heart between your fingertips
Like whispers from Lillith to Eve
Deep inside the sacred cave of humanity
Women are warriors
Daily
Having to stand ready to fight
Protect themselves
Because who else will stand up for us
Except for other women
Only women can understand the pain
Of having to carry themselves on the line
Of brutality and forgiveness
Warriors and mothers
We all have the potential of being beautiful
Like the great mother Kali
Fanged and bloodied
Caring for the beautiful and brave children
That come forth from her womb
And killing those who try to cause harm to them
There is life and death in everything
And if we didn't die life would never be worth living
So open your eyes and be aware
Or you will be found in the secret darkness of eternity
And end up with a beheaded soul
Wandering forever
Without hope
Because I will find my betrayors
My dear Brutus
And I will rip you heart out of your chest
I will devour you
Because you have tried your best
And you have not killed me
I will rise from the ashes of my decayed and burning soul
To get my revenge for all you have done to me
Because I am a great and fanged bloodied beast
In the disguise of a shattered heart feemale
And I will always win this fight...
