The Swan Widow

The Swan Widow

A Poem by Violet O'Brien

I saw you siting there

All alone in such a big forest

You were captivating

You were terrified of who you are

Of the wrong people finding out the secret

But I did not know this then

I saw only your fear of the light

The way you held yourself back from the world

And I wanted to reach inside you

Comfort you and help you relax

And show you there was nothing to be afraid of

I'm not sure you understood my tounge speakings

As they were muffled and very quiet

Words whispered in a secret darkness

And against your warm soft skin

And I cried slightly

At all the fear I tasted in you

Because I knew

You would never see yourself as beautiful...

Oh, very sad, I have felt this way towards some people and this poem put all the emotion into context so good for me.
