The Choice

The Choice

A Poem by Violet O'Brien

You pay for everything in pain
And life just drifts away
Words lose their meaning
And wounds have no feeling
Things become undefineable
And everything is delirium
How do you find your way
When the road is paved with thorns
You walk and walk cutting up yourself
Only to get to a crossroads
And you stand there
Thorns covering your feet
Trying to decide which way to go
To take the left path
With even more thorns and difficulties
Or take the right path
Which is much easier to walk
But alot less rewarding in the end
And you stand there...
Hands on your hips
And you choose which way you want to go

I've chosen my path...
Although it may be more difficult
And I may go through more pain because of it
I know that in the end
My reward will be great
For all that I have to endure...

Which way do you chose?
