La Tua Cantanta

La Tua Cantanta

A Poem by Violet O'Brien

I sleep next to you every night

And yet something will never be

Because every night your blood sings to me

But I can not feed that temptation

Though I am yours

I feel as if you are not mine

That you never will be

That you love me from compromise

And not from a fire in your heart

My heart breaks at the thought

That you are not my one

That I feel for you what you pretend to feel for me

And there is no sense in that

Fore you have chosen me

Just as I have chosen you

But that does not calm my nerves

It does not still my thoughts

My heart aches for you

But it seems it is not the same

You heart does not beat the same

It does not stir and flutter like it used to

But I can not understand why

We used to lay so close

Now so far apart

The distance between us is deafening

But my heart still aches

For the boy I used to know

The one I fell in love with so long ago

The one that makes my heart break

The one whose blood sings to me

Breaking my heart

With every caress

You sing to me

And it takes every breath not to kill you...
