Back When

Back When

A Poem by Amanda
"

From now to then

"
If only you knew,
What I know now,
You'd appreciate everything more,
And never close that door.
You would know what friends aren't true,
And the few that are still with you.
You'd take that hand,
instead of slapping it away.
Realize all your grave mistakes.
But you are the past,
And I am the present.
We can't ever change what happened then,
but I can learn from it, I really can.

This sounds like something that a parent would say to a child. I'm impressed that you are only 14. Keep writing. I liked it.

You are not very old...I am over 60....this reminds me of the sort of stuff that i was writing in my late teens...You will learn, if you continue to write, that the rhyme can be more subtle. I still use rhymes in my blank verse but in this one of yours. 'And never close that door ' seems too forced Good read though
