OWSRALL Adventures- First of ManyA Story by AmandaA little drabble loosely based on how I think our first day will go :)S**t, s**t, s**t.
I am totally forever alone. Oh my god, I’m going to look so awkward with no friends. I don’t know what to do!
How could I ever have been excited for the first day of the brand new Uxy?
My hair must look awful; it always does- especially when I think it looks good. As always my clothes are either a bit tight or too baggy. Oh my god, this is going to be horrible!
Thank god I’m not crushing on anyone, which would add a huge weight to my already over-loaded worries. Finally a few buses pull up and my two best friends arrive at one point or another.
Kaylee’s wearing a blue top with hearts printed all over it and white shorts. Sophie’s wearing a white blouse and skinny jeans. I grin when I see them, waving them over.
“Oh my god!” Sophie squeals unnecessarily.
“I know!” We locate our classes, sticking together. I frown.
“Okay, so…this is our homeroom,” I say reluctantly to Kaylee. Sophie’s a few down I think. We have some classes together, I hope. Sophie waves a bit crazily, and we slowly enter. In lower years I always experienced that awkward walk of shame to find my desk.
This year it’s pick your own and Kaylee and I sit in our usual fashion. I sit in the front row, she sits in the second- directly behind me. I blush every time the teacher walks by. Oh my god, I hate school.
It isn’t until lunch, which everyone has the same period save for Hannah, when I miss the forth member of OWSRALL. I suppose it’s no longer an accurate name since Kaylee doesn’t snot rocket so much anymore and Lyndsey got rid of the prized lunchbox.
But still, lunch was our thing, it was the basis of our friendship! But Lyndsey’s not even in this school system anymore. I frown, looking around.
I spot Sophie’s peas and laugh. We need to make this place as familiar as possible. I guess that process can start with the stealing of peas. Being swift (when am I ever not?) I grab one and nibble on it.
All too soon our twenty minutes are over and we return to anxious and awkward classes. When the final buzzer sounds, we locate each other.
“That wasn’t so bad, was it?” Kaylee mutters.
“Not as bad as I thought it would be,” Sophie comments, searching for her new bus. Kaylee does the same and I laugh.
“You say that now…but just wait until we don’t have lunch together.” The looks of horror on their faces are enough to make me think we’ll make it through the next four years. © 2012 AmandaAuthor's Note
