BeautifulA Poem by AmandaYou looked at me, said, “Why can’t you see?” I looked at you, replied, “Can’t see what’s not true.” Angry, you try, but it will always be a lie. “I always go to the crowning,” I tell, frowning. But I’ve never been the queen. I’m not fit, not lean.” You yell “It doesn’t matter!”, but that only makes me sadder. “You’re good, just the way you are!” “I’ve never passed the bar.” “Fine,” You give up, and stare at my empty cup, I’m glad you now know, but I still feel real low. I knew you wouldn’t hold on, but our moments now feel like a con. You started with “You’re beautiful”, but I’ll never feel suitable. © 2012 AmandaAuthor's Note
