Child of poetry?

While my child-like qualities may be exaggerated, such as finding less words to expess myself, overall it suggests some trends in my writing.

To me, poetry is- rhythm 

Describing feelings, thoughts- in system 

I used to jump, evade- descriptions 

n’ so “seemingly” cant write poetry- of inscription 

I’ve read poems n books on poetry 

They speak of English I felt as if history 

Forgive me, I’m a beginner 

I know not about poetry, too well 

Just enough rhyming n rhythm 

About free verse n description 

Of thoughts, feelings, events 

As they happened 

Coz I loved plots n characters 

Not settings, difficult adjectives, adverbs 

The suspense is all I craved 

Not the character 

Of words so written 

In books of high wisdom 

I’m …like a “child” on the “beach” 

A romantic at heart, an aesthete 

Who may not know 

The names of all things around 

But one who can feel 

The beauty of the sea n seashore, 

Nonetheless, sure 

Of its goodness n nature abound 

I’m ….like a “bird” 

Enjoying the “air, environs, wind n flight” 

Of ecstasy, freedom n delight 

But who knows not 

Language as seen”right” 

I’m… a bit like “nature” 

Enjoying the “breeze n nurture” 

Of” sun n weather” 

I can feel n even think 

Things as soft as a feather 

But descriptions so far I elude 

For want of better fruit 

Quick 

There’s so much to do 

How can I let a dictionary n single book rule 

My life 

My time? 

Do you understand me now 

My muse 

Is the world n myself 

While I may be a fast “speaker” 

Am not a descriptor, 

Of things 

But an experiencer of many-hued flings

The great aspect of poetry is that you can use any structure/verse/etc to get across your message. Your right that poetry is highly focused on emotion and feelings than the minute descriptions of a novel. That's why I like to consume poetry more so than novels...gasp!
