" I AM JUST A KITE-MAKER"

" I AM JUST A KITE-MAKER"

A Poem by Subham Chatterjee

Are you hearing out to me ?

I am just a kite-maker,

So my poems are flimsy realms

Torn by wind, caught in others' dreams .

Are you listening to me ?

For I am just a kite-maker,

So my songs are silent - without any decrees

Stuck in electric poles , caught in branches of tall trees.

Are you giving an ear to me ?

For I am just a kite-maker,

So my dreams have a silver tail trailing

And they rise most sweetly , but the wind sets them failing.

Are you just smiling at me ?

For I am just a kite-maker,

Watching , wondering, while Time and the Rain

Cut through my kite, made from a miracle amidst the growing pain.

A storm is in waiting for me,

My twine will snap, and it will go free

And perhaps I will see it - no never ....

Taking it over flat roofs, and blue hills for ever

For, no one can ever tell

Where on my one single essence fell.

Are you listening to me true ?

For I am your kite-maker too ,

With all my kites out worn,

Still for you I will make a bright one from the ones torn ,

So lets together, lets give it a try ---

And perhaps what we can make is ---- A new poem fly !

this is a beautiful poem - very positive and uplifting. the analogy of poem as kite is fresh and new to me, and you create so many lovely images with it - stuck in tree branches, battered by wind and rain, sailing off who knows where. and the inclusion of the reader in the last stanza is very sweet and effective. thank you for a wonderful poem!

This is a sweet poem and it touches my heart as I read each stanza. You place in your duties but those of love toward the other to be noticed. Its a sweet poem as I said before, nicely done.
