Falling Up the StairsA Poem by SR UrieLooking for love ain't easyFalling Up
the Stairs Late dreary day, watch
the weary sun’s stalling Round dusk’s sinking
heart, fortune recalling That last blinking flare.
Forsaken stares seed the mist, While rising darkness wheels
your prayer’s empty list, Carrying an angel’s
feelings, as if she even cares, You’re staring towards
the ceiling, falling up the stairs. Don’t count your steps,
or the angle going up, Mount the air with
concepts of fair interwoven cups. Trip along, stair by
stair, accentuate up! Hip be strong, quip no
wrong nor fate corrupt, Growling laughter,
dropping faster to disaster, Calling out to the one
who dares, you’re falling up the stairs. Memories of love bring
her to tears of pain, Chemistry and fears winged
him past greed and rain. Parting tests your
abandoned quest, adding to the twist, Opposing stairwell’s
summit promised need to kiss. All alone yet among limitless
lovers so scarce, Squalling pups so
unprepared, still falling up the stairs. SR Urie © 2012 SR Urie |
