Forced Farewell

Forced Farewell

A Poem by SR Urie

Forced Farewell

So off we go to that friendless shore,

Dash away towards a brand new day

To tides of grey, ever come what may,

Where tides of woe lent by feckless foe,

Bashed nameless upon the cluttered floor.

Run and hide, despite high tide,

You gave and gave, love’s desperate slave,

Romance took that unforsaken door

Leaving you, fettered in view, to give again no more.

So ‘Via con Dios,’ God will see those

Awful sins yet still too soon to hide.

And ever on, the weak and the strong

Revolve before your poor eyes too long.

Regret your bet, to spite mounting debt,

Though they are no longer keeping score.

Take all you can while you can still stand;

Still the villain - I - want more!
