Her

Her

A Story by David Tiger Arizmendi

the words they have said,
running through her head.
She hasn’t eaten,
she’s been beaten,
her faith is broken,
and her wings were stolen.
She can’t get to heaven
and she’s already been through hell,
her heart was shredded
from heaven she fell.
They push her further and further
but not far enough.
They cause her scars,
the reason she cut,
they cut her deeper
and deeper
deeper still
but not deep enough.
bring back all her dreadful memories,
stain her shirts in blood
from all her scars they flood.
She prays for death to take her hand
and walk her down the path,
she asks for it but this feeling will not last.
He grabs her hand and stares into her eyes,
asks this girl will you please be mine?
She pulls up her sleeves and reveals all her scars,
you wouldn’t want me if you knew
I have gone this far.
He wipes away her tears
and pulls up his sleeves,
you may be broken
but I’m broken too,
you may be lost
but I’m lost without you,
you may have those scars
but mine bleed for you,
and I’m madly in love with a girl
and she might be you,
and she simply replies,
boy I love you too.
