Woolacombe

Woolacombe

A Poem by Stuart Ellis

Here is where you'll find my soul
In the twilight of this transient life
An enchanted child on Woolacombe beach
Perfect family summer days
Warm air thick with delicious memories
Tingling exhilaration of rushing salt water
of sunbaked silky golden sand
Sweet candy floss, scones with clotted cream
Deep dark glittering rock pools teeming with life
A cosy welcoming bungalow
the garden we played in together
Across the verdant green valley
Grazing beasts exalted in perfect harmony
punctuated by distant euphoria
lifted high on a warm sea breeze
from sand castles, swings and slot machines.
Succulent, warm fish and chips
Long walks through lush vibrant hills
And the blissful illusion
that these precious fleeting moments
with my beloved family
in this sweet heaven on earth
would last for ever.

I could see the beach in my mind's eye as I read this. Great imagery!

good - maybe break up the stanzas a little? only thing i can think of to improve - it's a brick of text.
