A bird in a cage,
A sparrow nobody wants
does he have the right to fly?
The master and owner of the cage
brings food and water everyday.
Must the sparrow be grateful
cut off from others
almost never having
liking company
Aside from the foul
felines, who enjoy rattling the cage.
Every now and then
through the bars
the sparrow watches
all those who fly outside:
The happy lovebirds,
the handsome crows,
the talented parakeets,
the kind robins
and the strong eagles.
He wishes to become like them
and take their place.
But still, must he repay
the master who imprisoned him
and fed him all these years
How he wishes to change his feathers
and be more than just
a bird in a cage
a sparrow nobody wants
