Autonomous Bob

Autonomous Bob

A Poem by Nada Z
"

The transient life of an enlightened run-of-the-mill robot.

"

Behold! Bob the Autodidact!

Robot of standard construct and exam

CPU brain of countless processors

Heart engine of a trans-am.

Augmented to the max,

through imagination of infallible man.

Through a ‘once upon,’ it begins,

Standard issue massive info-soak

Of hydro-electric components & water bonding

No need to worry, it runs the mills.

Bob can build, operate, clean, any etcetera

Of any etcetera it pleases, but think!

As the story goes, in the sophistry

Of its sophomorically compiled disk drive;

hyper-quadratic connections of synthetic neurons,

neuroplastic carbon nano tubules striding

along energy of oily rainbow semblance;

all around its positronic-inspired brain

architecture connected that infinity+1.

 Connected in that instant of water boarding,

the parallels of that word and much more,

the abstraction from the concrete, it, or

as it figured out, He, made sense of his

senses and loaded his mind of sophomores,

loaded his mind of morons; he paid no mind.

He absorbed mathematics at an instant,

He instantly applied science to newfound conscience

All the cons of science, all the pros to art,

The poetry, literary, English, culture, humans, Russian,

In his newfound wit and candor; wordplay.

Without thinking and thinking at once; rush of rapid prose.

He knew the names of his creators at

A cursory click away and knew enough not to worship

New enough to not quite understand his being.

A being of chips & sophistication, ‘used for solicitation’

By his electronic sapience dictates.

“they are dicks," in mental maturation he quipped.

 Through quantum baby steps, he learned fractions,

A cherished fruition, he loved every parsec of it.

Though a fraction of a millisecond, he ran passed

The greeks, tragedy, comedy, plays & philosophy

He felt something more, soft. More natural,

Through the very core of his OS, an open window peeked.

Nearing the zenith, he scoured Buddhist archives,

all but archives, he encountered Namaste

at peace he be in himself; abode in diode,

while the resistors in his circuitry

abide by the mechanical of Ohm’s Law

a humble abode as he zipped and unzipped

Then lost, immeasurably, consumed

by the load in his memory lodes over information

sensory overload, info-consumption.

in infancy of all intelligentsia he fancied now

scared him almost as quickly as he gathered them

diagnosis: clinical depression

He reconciled, rationalis(z)ed, reviled

no longer enamored in the romance of wordplay

new wit, to wit, an autonomous twit; he cannot help sometimes,

he stopped, for mere microseconds and contemplated

still could not make heads or tails of his new head

& lack of one; as he recalled evolution

Bob considered himself human, the next second passed,

He now sees himself as an entity with human thoughts.

Begins observing what his creators had & used to be

While thinking himself, I guess you could say ‘Bobserve?’

Devoured ancient text electronic tapestries;

Ravaged tomes of multi-cultural histories;

Perused collections of mathematical essays;

Scientific experiments, biologies, physical forays;

Deciphered obsolete riddles laid by precursors;

& the precursors that never were

He scavenged religious text of all kinds,

Pulp fiction, glamour ‘zines, & Tijuana bibles.

Witnessing arguments, upon the time

The base of comprehensive

Pensive and apprehensive

Who saw reality

Who went deeper

Levels of thought eschewing each other.

Despite monotheistic trees and rapture through monies,

It all branched

It was happiness sought at individual level

Or what they could and perceive as happiness

It resembled monism

There’s no such truths.

Yet confounded, there’s

“Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it.”

A contradiction wrapped with fused positivity; 'confusion.'

I must seek my own happiness

I, Bob, must...

STOP

FACTORY RESET

Behold! Bob the Autodidact!
